shallow well pump runs and then turns off

We have a shallow well pump and it just stopped. We replaced the points on it and then the pump would only make a humming noise. We took the pump to a local hardware ant had it tested. they said the pump was fine. Hooked pump back up, got it primed water ran while we had it turned on at faucet then cut off. We turned the pressure switch and it started back running. stayed ok all night. The next morning we used the water and then it is off again. If we turn the pressure switch on it runs for a while the stops. Any suggestions on what the issue may be?

Replaced "the points" on what? Did you replace the point of a driven well?

Never once seen a hardware store equipped to test an electric motor.
I would have taken it to a real electric motor repair shop.

Back in the day, we used to file down "the points" meaning the carbon that developed on relay switches and you can indeed replace them, but it costs about 10X as much to do that.
