Water collects in basement window well

I recently dug window well deeper to eventually put in an egress window so now bottom of well is about 4 ft below ground. Anytime there is heavy rain there is a lot a water accumulating in window well. Before the well was deeper the water would build up then get into basement through bottom of window. What is best way to get rid of the water that accumulates in the well? Maybe some sort of small dry well?

You are on the right track. However, there is no sense in doing that until you install the egress window & seal the foundation. The dry well has to be 3 or 4 feet away from the window well. Use a surface collector & flexible pipe to route the water to the dry well. There are window well covers that can be used also.

You need to grade the land so water on the surface does not run into the window well.

Water that gets into the well will have to soak into the ground. If the water doesn't soak (perc) fast enough or if the water oozes back out further down under the foundation and into the basement then you need to connect it with a perimeter drain system and sump pump, installing such a system if not already existing.
