Well Not Working, No Pressure, Shutting Off,

So we just moved to a new place not too long ago and it has a well, possibly 8 years old? (guessing)
Main thing is the well pump has turned off, breakers in box all still ON, and there is zero pressure in the pipes. When we flip the breakers off and back on again, the well pump will turn on either for a minute or two filling the main tank OR for 3 seconds and turn back off.
The tank (10,000 gallon) is filled with about a foot of water.
The power did go out the other day, so we are thinking that is about the time this started happening, not exactly sure because it is used for irrigation and we weren't paying too much attention.
I hoping its a simple matter but if anyone has suggestion please do throw them this way. We are new to the well game and not entirely sure what we're doing

Welcome to the forums.

10K gallon tank ? Does your deep well pump fill the tank and then another pump raises the pressure for irrigation ?

We need visuals here. A picture or three of what you have there would be helpful and informative. http://www.doityourself.com/forum/el...-pictures.html

A tank of that size would indicate a fairly large deep well pump. Do you have a well control box somewhere near the pressure switch ?

It sounds like the pump is having a starting problem. Could just be a defective capacitor if you have a well control box.
