distance from bottom of well?

several years ago I drilled my own 4" well and installed a sub. pump It failed yesterday after approx. 6 years of service. I do have a geothermal HP that gets its water from this well, I do not have a tankless grundfos controller should I ? also my pump sits in the screen area...is this ok? I heard not. I only have 12' of water static standing and the draw down is about 6' so the pump must be in the screen about 4' from bottom.????

You should have a grundfos controller to operate the pump. If you can pull the pump you will find that the grundfos pump is very easy to work on. When I worked at the landfill, we used the grundfos pumps to pump leachate (garbage juice). The pump may have gotten the vanes filled with hard water deposit. You can find a break down online of these pumps. Once you pull the pump, disassemble the vanes and so in Meractic Acid for a couple of hours, then rinse off. BE CAREFUL OF THE ACID! The vanes should be made out of S.S. and the acid won't affect the S.S. Check over the vanes carefully be for you reassemble.

Edit: The motor and electrical supply are separate from the pump. You don't need to do anything to the motor.
