Aerobic septic system- air pump problem
Good afternoon, I currently live on a property that has a aerobic septic system and it has never given me issues. That was until a few days ago when the air pump decided to quit working. I checked out the air pump and discovered the diaphragms were out so I replaced them. Now I put a small rebuild kit on the air pump the air pump is functioning how it was previously. After taking everything apart and putting it together I thought everything was good. I walked outside yesterday and saw that the piping to the air pump had disconnected itself and when I attempted to connect it the air pressure would disconnect the piping. I now have have come to the conclusion that the piping is clogged on the way into the tank. My first attempt was to try to add air pressure to remove the clog with a compressor and an air hose but it didn't seem to do anything. I am now stuck not knowing what to do in order to get air to aerate my system. Any ideas would help. I am thinking of adding water pressure down the pipe to see if it helps but I am stuck as I don't want to break anything trying to fix the problem

I think you might be correct in that something is clogged. What that is depends on your system. Do you have access to the chamber where the air hose leads?

i don't think so, the piping goes down next to the main opening but its not visible from there

Who is the manufacture of the system?
You can find this on the control panel
Sounds like you definitely have a clog.
Probably caused by the air pump not working.
Because you were not able to blow out the clog.
My guess is you have a Hoot & you need to replace the air stones in the bottom of the center chamber.

the manufacturer is hoot.
I'm not too familiar with the system. What are air stones? and what would involve changing those stones? If i keep attempting to blow the clog out how much pressure can i use? would anything break if i add too much pressure? I'm not sure what is down there so i dont want to break anything. I applied maybe 40 psi but i know the pipes will handle alot more.

There are 4 of them located in bottom corners of the last chamber in a 2 chamber Hoot & in the center chamber of a 3 chamber Hoot.
You need to dig down the top of tank & there is a concrete plug above each stone.
Just pull the air line up & replace the stones.
If you put 40 psi on the system & it did not clear them they need to be replaced.
The air stones are where the air comes out into the system.
Without the right amount of air getting into your system it will not work correctly.
