Sump pump pit has no liner

My home is forty plus years old and the sump pump pit has no liner /basin. I am looking at replacing the sump pump is it appears to be failing. The bottom of the pit is dirt/sand and I was wondering if I should install a basin. The pit is 15" wide by 24" deep. I have not seen a basin for that dimension. Just curious if the basin is a must and any recommendations on where to get one.

Many pits don't have a liner. You can set the pump on bricks or small pavers depending on the size to keep the pump from sucking up the mud.

I often make my own out of the plastic pail that pool chlorine comes in.
The bucket is taller then a regular 5 gal. bucket.
I just use a 1/2" paddle bit to make holes in the sides.
Pump stays cleaner, less chance of sucking up a stone and jamming up the pump.
