I noticed yesterday that my pump was running when there was no water being used, so when i opened the well house the pressure gauge was around 58-60 psi it was being a little erratic. I popped the cover off the pressure switch and when i touch the contacts with the plastic cover they reset and shut off, so first thought needed a new switch, but as temporary, i files contact a little and applied a little electrical grease pump cut on and back off like it should the first time and then became stuck on again. So i head to home depot pick up a pressure switch, come home installed it, checked pressure in water tank seemed to be good, realease air to see if water was in take, re charged to 28 psi (30/50 Switch). installed new switch, to find out I had same problem. cuts on about 30 and will rise above 50 (55psi) and not shut off, needle is a little erratic above 50. not sure if its the gauge or what. I did a little research and seen were i should have replaced tube, so i went and bought one and replaced it also, no fix. still same issue. I can manually make the switch cut off and it stays off until it cuts on at 30 psi, also sometimes if i just cut the power to the pump off the switch turn off and stays off, most times anyway sometime it will restart. How else can I trouble shoot this system and make a determination weather it is the pump or another issue like the jets or foot valve? i just want to start from the beginning again and locate the problem, i may buy another pressure switch or clean the new one to make sure no trash is in it from not first changing the tube. my well house is opened from the top and it is currently raining so looks like i wont get to it today so im trying to learn what to look for and steps to take so when i am able to work on it again. My pump is a flotec fp4312 1/2 hp, tank is 42 gal, well is bored not sure how deep tho. to my knowledge it is original pump so it is 20 -21 yrs old, if it is not original its about 10 yrs or older thats how long ive been here with no problems until now. I still have water but im controlling the pump with the breaker inside house, turning it off when not in use. Any help on what to do, what to look for is greatly appreciated..

We have a septic system and we are getting odors in the master bath. We live in Mexico but the house is only 20 years old. I have the 'blue-prints' for the septic system from the original architect. They show lines for 'clean' water and 'black' water. They also show 'registers' for both lines. The only thing above ground (the only thing we see) is a long 3" PVC pipe at the farthest point of the lot. Can anyone help me understand this system ? Do septic systems in the US also have registers ? Do the registers need to be maintained over time ? Should we be putting something into our system to facilitate the process/maintain the system ? Thanks.
