Good economical sump pump for basement?
Hey guys, the sensor on the existing Flotec pump stopped working so instead of having to pay someone to replace the sensor I would prefer to get a new pump at Home depot.
Any particular brand would be better than the Flotec please?

Hey guys, a plumber I spoke to told me for my application which is just to pump waste from a shower and kitchen sink that all I would need is a "Little Giant" pump which does not have any float sensors which gets stuck. Searching online I am seeing this, is the plumber giving good advice and is this a good one please?

Or since the existing pump is working "manually", would it makes sense to replace the float? The existing one seems similar to this:

I'd certainly replace the float switch if that's the only problem with existing pump. It's probably the most common failure point.

Ok I found a video here so I should be able to do this by removing the pump's cap:

You probably already did what your going to do but there is no need to replace the pump switch as long as your system uses 2 plugs. Just buy a watch dog dual float switch. You attach it to the PVC tube and plug it into the wall and then plug the sump pump in.
I have 2 pumps that have diaphragm switches that failed. I just added the new float and left the diaphragm in the pit.
The watchdog floats can't get hung up and they have a fail-safe in that it's 2 floats if the main fails then the water will rise a bit further and activate the second float.

This is the best option, I already installed a basic float but next time I will get the dual, thank you very much!
