I have a well system and the pump that brings the water from 97 feet down has stopped working. At first there was a slight hum from the electrical boxes. Now the hum is really noticeable and the pump is not turning on.
Would appreciate any ideas of what the problem could be.
Thanks.

The hum is likely a locked rotor. The motor is trying to spin but it can't either because the motor is shot or rotor is blocked/stuck. If the motor has thermal protection is will hum for a while and stop when the thermal overload trips, or the breaker/fuse will blow. I suspect you are looking at a new pump, motor, or both.

There's something called a:
Coyote pump protector
Jacuzzi submersible pump
UV Light
The pump is brings the water from 97 feet down.....At first there was a slight hum from the electrical boxes. Now the hum is really noticeable and the pump is not turning on.
Tolyn: I believe we were both typing at the same time...

Since you have a submersible well pump.... you can't hear the motor hum.
You could be hearing a starting relay or something in the pump protector.
Do you know the age of the pump ?
Do you know if it's a two or three wire pump ?

The age of the pump is 1994, and I believe it's a four wire.
I had a friend post on usedvictoria. com and hopefully it's ok if I put a link here to the usedvictoria post, as it has several photos of some of the equipment in the well house.
Thanks again!

I posted the important pictures here.
The Coyote control should be protecting the pump from further damage.
You have a three wire pump system even though there are four wires. The start circuitry for your pump motor is inside the Franklin box.
There may be a bad capacitor inside the Franklin box. The actual guts to that unit was not included in your pictures.
If you don't have any electrical experience it will be hard for me to tell you how to check that box. At the very least you would need a test meter volt/ohmmeter and a clamp on current meter.

Thanks so much for your input.
I rewrote what I had posted before, so hoping this is clearer. Thanks again!
I have a well system circa 1994 and the submersible pump that brings the water from 97 feet down has stopped working. At first there was a slight hum from the panel boxes and the pump still worked. Now the hum is really noticeable and the pump is not working. The float when lifted makes a click sound in the panel box and the pump does not turn on. This system runs on a 15 amp service. The hum seems to be coming from the transformer part in picture #3 And picture #6 does not seem to be hooked up. Nor do I see anything that would suggest this part was ever connected.. This part is the back of the Jacuzzi box.

Ok.... now we've got some questions.
You said float. What float ? Do you have an above ground storage tank with a second pump ?
There is no 6th picture unless you count the picture of the Jacuzzi control.
I have no idea what the control is for in picture 2 although I'd expect that to be part of a float/tank fill system.
If the Jacuzzi/Franklin box is where the noise is coming from....then you may have a bad capacitor on that pull out plate. There are two parts on there... a starting capacitor and a starting relay.

The float is in the cistern. We have an above-ground storage tank with the float in it.
There is no second pump in the cistern. There is a jet pump that supplies the house with water and it is still working.
Thanks again.

Thank goodness a friend came over and the pump is now working so we now have water! Yay!!! Therefore, I have now revised the ad because we still have the loud hum. Here goes: I have a well system circa 1994 and the submersible pump that brings the water from 97 feet down has humming issues in the electrical panels. I believe the hum is coming from the transformer in picture #2. The hum is really noticeable now so I shut the 15 amp fuse off and turn it on to fill the cistern. The submersible pump is working good so this seems to be an electrical issue. Pls see the pictures. Thanks!
