Sump pump stopped
I"ve had a Simer 1/2 hp cast iron submersible sump pump for about 6 years. I noticed about 3 years ago it wasn't working. I didn't have time to mess with it until now. It stopped working I think within the warranty period, but that's up now.
It hasn't been in any heavy duty use since I've had it, and it seems to be a well built sturdy pump.
I'm not sure why there's a separate electrical cord for the pump and what appears to be the float switch - that plugs into the other one at then end.
Is there a way to bypass/check the float switch or otherwise check this thing?

That is a piggy back float.
You can plug the pump in directly without the float switch inline.
If the pump works.... the float is most likely bad and can be replaced separately.
