Sudden Dirty Well Water

I have well water that goes through a softener. Today I used a 3000 psi pressure washer for approx 2 hours. After pressure washing, my water is now very brown with sediment falling out. I recharged the softener - no change. I didn't run any water for 2 hours - no change.

Did I run my well too low with the pressure washer? Water supply has never been an issue in the 13 years I've lived here. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

You may have temporarily lowered the water level in the well farther than normal; that can loosen up muck on the sides and stir up deposits as the well refills.

Give it a few days and it should clear back up.

Once it seems clear again, you should probably flush your water heater, and you many need to remove and clean faucet aerators and the filter screens in your clothes washer hoses.

You may not want to run your clothes or dish washers until you get the water cleared up. Some do not have inlet screens and the last thing you want is to get a bit of debris caught in their fill valves.
