Deep well pump

I have a deep well jet pump the pump runs and it doesnt pump water. When you prime the pump it does not move water and the water in the pump casing never goes down so i dont think its losing its prime. I have gotten it to pump, but once the pump shuts off and i restart it i get no water. Where should i start?

If the pump looses it's prime when the motor shuts off you have a leak somewhere. Often it is the foot valve at the bottom of the well that does not seal properly letting the water drain back into the well.

Pumps like that can sometimes take a long time to prime so I would let it run for at least several minutes and continue to fill it with water. If it never primes I would pull the well and check to see if the venturi is clogged with debris.
