Well pressure problems

I have a gal. air over water deep well system. I replaced the check valve ,pressure switch and pressure gauge. I drained the water from the tank, pressurized the tank to 28 psi as shown on pressure gauge (pressure switch is 30-50). turned on power . the system pumped up to 54 and cut off . when I checked the gauge later it was up to 80 PSI. ANY ideas what I,m doing wrong???

Not sure what that is.

The pressure gauge said 54psi and you measured 80psi at the air valve on the tank ?

Sometimes the water heater can cause increasing water pressure (cold water heated will expand)

Unless there's a problem with the pressure switch, the pressure shouldn't increase much past the cutoff.
