Water pump question
We live in Mexico.
We have a large covered pool-like tank in the ground near the garage which we use to give water to the sprinkler system as well as the smaller tank on the roof to feed the gravity fed water for the house.
We recently had the 1 hp pump - which can send water to a garden hose OR send water to the roof (from the tank) if there is no pressure at the street - serviced/rebuilt, Since then, after several attempts, the pump does not seem to 'hold' the prime. Water comes out the garden hose with force, but when I cut the power to the pump I hear a CLANG,CLANG,CLANG which then stops.
Am I 'hurting' the pump ? In order to prime this pump I have to remove a 1" screw and feed water into the hole.
Thanks

The pump's check valve may not have been reinstalled correctly.
If something is loose or clanging around I would not run the pump unless absolutely necessary. If a needed part or bit comes loose it could get lost and difficult to replace, but if you can open it up and get it put back together properly it could be a easy fix.
