Hello We have a well on our property. The well is 140 feet deep. Plenty of water. The casing is 6”. Last summer I was quoted $1400 to hook up the well, not including electrical. We have county water for our house. We planted about 40 plants/trees. I would love to use the well water to water... mainly because I know it would be much better for the plants. We would only need to run a garden hose... the longest distance would be 300ft. What is the most economical way to hook the well up for use? It doesn have to be pretty. 😀 thanks so much!!

I have well water. I've got a pump/pressure tank/iron filter/water softener setup and it seems to work pretty well. I don't have any problems with iron, that I can tell anyway. The company that installed my iron filter was great - but it was not cheap. Anyway, they sent me a reminder that it's probably time to have some maintenance done/replace something inside the iron filter. And it'll cost $500 or so. The thing is, $500 is a lot of money and we've had our hours cut back a bit so, I'd like to avoid/delay if at all possible. If I wait until I notice iron in my water - will that be too late to avoid costly problems? What I mean is, will my water softener start picking up the iron and end up with it's resin completely ruined before I notice the iron inside the house? I don't want to end up needing to pay $500 for the iron filter AND $500 for repairs on the softener or to fix the hot water tank or something else that was damaged by the iron? Or am I just being paranoid and can leave it until it becomes a problem?
