First time posting. :) House was built in 1967 in Northern Minnesota. It’s currently in the negatives and we have a ton of snow. First sign something wasn’t right. When I use the sink the toilet would bubble. Sometimes sucking the water from the bowl. We went on the roof and cleared the vent. Still having the same issue. I tried plunging the toilet. Then it wouldn’t flush and filled with water. So I bought a 25 foot pistol grip drum auger. Drain seems to be clear. I didn’t hit anything. Went in the basement and found a sopping wet ceiling tile on the floor under the sink. There’s an open exhaust? Type vent with duct tape over it and it pushed water out when we flush or use the sink. Sooo, I tried using the auger in that pipe too. Didn’t find an obstruction. I covered it with a cap and more duct tape for now. Used the sink in the other bathroom and our toilet bubbles. Talked to the septic company he thinks there may be an obstruction even though I didn’t hit anything. Also a plumber with a camera can’t come until late next week. Goofy open pipe in photo as well. Lift station is 5 feet from basement bathroom. [/i] Do I need to go back on the roof in -30 or could it be something else? Hello all, I experienced some issues today where all my toilets trap water are ejected outside of the toilet. The issue I found is that the "sewage" sump pump might not work correctly instead it pumps air into the venting system through the vent pipe and cause all toilet trap water spilled outside. [b]Question 1[/b]> This is sewage pit but we don't have a basement toilet system instead it just has some clean underground water and condensation water from furnace. Do I still need a vent pipe? If I can remove the vent pipe connected to the pit, I can prevent the issue happening again where it pumps air into the venting system. As I said, we have this setup for more than five years and never had such an issue. The new zoeller M267 was installed a few month ago and works perfectly until now. The replaced system was a Zoeller M98 without check-valve. [b]Question 2[/b]> Does my sump pump installation have any issues? We have the new pump & check-valve for more than three months and never had such a problem before. As shown in the picture, the pump has a quiet check-valve installation near the base and there is also a drilled vent hole to prevent air-lock.
