Little Giant 6-CIA Diaphram Switch Issue

Hey all.

I've got the above mentioned sump pump and yesterday I noticed it wasn't shutting off. I removed it and brought it outside, hosed it off, and plugged it in. It didn't turn on - which is good!

I took a big saline syringe (my wife's a nurse) and drilled the end so it fit on the air nipple on the plug. I gave it some suction and it started right up.

My question is, even though it seems to working fine, can I, or should I trust it?

Thanks.

Once that tube is clear the pump should work ok.
If you get a lot of water or that pump is in a critical area..... get one of those water fault alarms
you can set on the floor next to the pit.

Thanks PJmax.

I reinstalled the pump and it was working good for a week or so, but then it started to not shut off again.

If I decide to buy a new pump (rather than buying a switch/diaphragm kit), is there a sweet spot in pumps for something reliable, but not too expensive? I was looking at Zoeller M53s, but there are a lot of pumps out there for a good bit less. And, for the Zoeller's $200, there a a lot of other pumps to look at.

Any recommendations?

Thanks.
