Sealing existing shallow bored well from the outside
My mother-in-law has a 50 year old 32ft shallow well with 30" concrete casings that seem to be leaking from the joints between the preformed casing sections 10-15ft down. Does anyone know the technical feasibility of digging out a 3" annular space around the outside of the casing 20ft down and refilling with bentonite/concrete to seal from the outside?
Thanks!
Thanks!

The fix is a new drilled well that gets below the surface water and into bedrock.
How in the world are you going to dig a 3" wide trench 15-20 feet deep? It's going to take some major excavating or highly specialized equipment to get that deep. About the only easy thing you can do to help is grade the area to keep surface water as far away from the well as possible.

Thanks for the quick reply Your wrote:.
I don't know and was wondering if someone had some cool unique DIY technique. Since the casing was backfilled with soil I assume there are no big rocks. I was thinking about water based drilling techniques but again I really didn't know.
I guess the other idea is to try and seal joints from inside the well casing. Any ideas on how well that might work or what cement sealing material to use?
