Little GIANT pump problem

I think my sump pump is about ten years old? It wasn't working yesterday. I pulled it out and didn't (couldn't) see any blockage or obvious problems, put it back and it worked. I thought maybe the float assembly was jammed up somehow? Today the motor is making noises but it's not pumping.

Should I bother "fiddling" with it again? Is ten years about what they should last? Time to buy a new one? Any reason to buy, or not to buy, Little GIANT?

A sump pump is something you need to work in an emergency, so you will be miles ahead replacing it if it is acting wonky. The alternative is an expensive flooded basement.

Thanks, you're correct, but this is just outside for our
flat clay soil to drain. Still needs to be fixed though.

You need to determine if the pump is actually spinning or the motor is stalled.

Not quite understanding where this is being used but it sounds like the pump is air locked.
Is there a check valve inline?
It needs a tiny weephole to allow pump to prime properly.

The owners manual mentioned airlock. I'll investigate that further thanks.

Not sure if you have a check valve in your system.
You don't necessarily have to have a check valve to get airlock.
Good video describing air lock
