I have one of these septic solutions aerators and I'm noticing its not spinning or putting out much air at all. The motor gets real hot. I need to find out if there is anything I can look at to diagnose this and see about repair. I did contact septic solutions and they don't provide anything or any assistance.
Please provide the model number or is the model UA14B you linked yours?
Why did you say "not putting out much air"? Where are you looking for air? Why are you looking for air? I'm curious because the photo link you provided is for a stirrer. It is not an air pump or blower. It appears to be a stirrer to agitate the tank.
First, I would disconnect power to the motor. Then turn the shaft by hand. Does it spin freely? Or, is it stuck in place or do you feel grittiness or binding? You're checking to see if something is wrapped around the prop preventing it from turning, or if the motor's bearings are going bad. Being a sealed motor means you can't just squirt oil on it. It would have to be disassembled to gain access to the bearings.
Unfortunately your motor is sealed so getting inside to any capacitors (if the motor has one) will be difficult. It is probably not considered serviceable. If it doesn't run they expect you to replace it.
It would appear you need a new motor.
Unfortunately it doesn't look there is a big difference between just the motor and a complete unit.
It comes down to how corroded your motor is and if the connections will come apart.
Hi,
Recently a plumber doing work at my house mentioned that my sump pump basin is too shallow in relation to the drain pipe height in the basin. The drain enters the basin at about 2" from the bottom.
For the pump to turn on, the basin has to fill up to the top of the drain pipe, meaning that my drain tube is always almost full and is keeping the wall footing in water. The pump stops when the water is at about the bottom of the drain.
I have a Liberty Pump 257 with a built-in float and I can't change the float start/stop height. Also the pump stops when the water lever is at the bottom of the drain pipe, not below the drain.

It's an old home that we had the basement excavated 10 years ago and there's a drain on the inside of the foundation. The drain goes around the perimeter and ends in the basin. The basement has a concrete floor and the basin is encased in the floor.
The drain is 18"x25" and 18" deep.
The fix:
I could break the concrete and install a deeper basin and it's a lot of work but before I try, I thought I could try to extend the depth of the basin.
I want to cut the bottom of the basin, dig the bottom, add rocks and insert the bottom half of the same basin model. I know the fit won't be perfect because of the trapezoidal shape of the basin but I could look ok and I could cut some relief in the side to make it fit better.
The problem with this approach might be that surrounding water could enter through the joint that the new minimum water table height would be at the joint and my pump couple potentially have to pump more water.
What do you think about it? Maybe it's not worth doing or there's a 3rd option.
Thanks

Conventional septic system with leach field in front yard, system is ~28 years old; I confess I have not had it pumped in quite some time. Side note: The city keeps making noises about extending water & sewer into the neighborhood, but no action on that yet. First saw this last summer, had a small area of dead grass. I seeded it and got the grass to fill in, went dormant in Fall. This spring, didn't come back so I seeded it again. Germinated and came in for a while and then browned off and died. The area has gotten larger and the far corner is exactly perpendicular straight lines of nice green grass on one side and brown on the other. This would be the corner of the field furthest from the tank. There are a few weeds growing in the patch.
Because the corner demarcation lines are exactly where the edge/corner of the field are, I have to assume this is septic-related. I did some Googling and got a lot of info, but not enough to tell me what's going on and what to do about it.
So, what have I likely got going here and what are my options?
Thanks. tg
