Jacuzzi (Franklin) 5C-S/B jet pump assembly

When I dissembled my Jacuzzi (Franklin) 5C-S/B jet pump to remove accumulated sludge, etc., I did not make note of the orientation of the diffuser. The back side (away from the impeller) has distinctive vanes, sort of like a clock with hands at 10, 12, and 2 positions while the remainder is smooth. Which way do I turn this item for re-installation? Do I rotate the "12" vane toward the top or bottom of the pump, or to one side or the other?
Please help.

Welcome to the forums.

See if the parts breakdown is of help..... Franklin pump info - pdf

Are you referring to pictorial # 2 - 06-0111-00-K diffuser(kit) ?
It looks like it can go in any orientation.

Pete, the picture you have shown shows the 3 vanes at the top. There is also a lug on the end of one of the vanes to prevent rotation. The manual says nothing about whether the vanes should go toward the open cavity in the housing, or the closed side to direct water flow.

Thank you for responding.Any more help is greatly appreciated.

The impeller spins inside the diffuser.

~ Pete ~
Thanks for calling me stupid without actually saying that I'm stupid!
Of course the impeller spins inside the diffuser.
That as NOTHING to do with the orientation!

I confess..... now I'm completely lost.

I left you the parts breakdown pdf previously.
It clearly illustrates the direction of the diffuser.
The open side of the diffuser faces the impeller and the motor.
So the impeller spins inside the diffuser.

To add further information.............
There is a lot of stress on that diffuser plate. Those three raised pieces are reinforcing ridges.
It would make sense that those three ridges would be over the open part of the volute.
