Super detailing on a post war lionel steam engine

I have an inexpensive lionel engine that I want to add more details. I know some of the various part suppliers but have not bought or attached any details yet. Wish to know the best methods for attaching?-Some parts are plastic some brass. Glues?, solder? The old casting is some kind of "white" metal.

Two part epoxy glue is usually a safe bet when joining bits made from different or unknown materials.

The old white metal is probably zinc or a zinc alloy.

TY Dane-I also understand that CA or super glue works well.
