Mildew on plywood yard decorations

We have many outdoor Xmas decorations that we made out of plywood, painted with primer, painted with latex, and finally used an outdoor water sealer to protect the projects. Items are covered on all sides and edges. We now see that there is mildew growing on the decorations and we can't seem to get rid of it. Any suggestions other than the bleach solution with water and soap and a scrub brush - this didn't remove any of the mildew. Do I need to sand the decorations clean and start over or do I need to scrap them and make new ones?

Welcome to the forums!

How strong was the bleach/water solution? what did you seal the wood with?

Generally paint doesn't need a sealer because the paint is formulated to withstand the elements. It's possible the mildew is under the sealer and the sealer is preventing the bleach solution from reaching the mildew. Depending on the type of sealer, it might need to be sanded down for the next coat of latex paint to adhere.
