Ideas for "wine and design" style painting frame

I have a bunch of these "wine and design" paintings that my wife and I have done. I also have some scrap plywood (about 5/8") that I've thought I could make a frame for some of these with.

These paintings are all 16"x20"x5/8" canvas mounted on a wood frame. The canvas is mounted over the frame so from the front and side you can't see the frame at all.

I'm wondering if anyone has any ideas for making a nicer outer frame for paintings like this with the kind of scrap wood I have?

You don't really have scrap wood. You have scrap plywood. <opinion> Wood is solid no ugly layered edge. Plywood has a layered edge. No easy way to hide that layered edge on plywood.

I have seen lots of interesting and nice frames made from old fence boards or pallets. Often that scrap can be had for nothing.

I do have scrap pallet wood as well. For my taste either would work.

Do you have a miter saw? Do you have a circular saw and rip guide? Trying with any less accurate tools will be difficult.

Look here for ideas and then we can better help you. https://www.google.com/search?as_st=...ts=&gws_rd=ssl
