Repair of Portuguese Floor Corker

I've had a red Portuguese floor corker for years which has made it quite easy to cork my wine bottles with any size of cork. Unlike hand models, this corker squeezes corks to fit any size of bottle top and does it all rather effortlessly compared to cheaper hand models. But, every tool eventually needs repairs. The plastic iris jaws in this unit have worn out and I want to replace them. So I took out the old ones. Two strong springs in the jaw set are next to impossible to put back in. Has anyone replaced the jaws on a similar corker? How can these springs be compressed to insert them again? Is there some tool to do it with (like the tool to put springs back onto car struts)? I need to figure this out before I order a new set of jaws.

Thanks,
