If you have any stainless steel cookware, surfaces or kitchen fixtures that have fallen victim to dirt or smudges, you'll be pleased to learn that you can easily make your own vinegar stainless steel cleaner. Below are 2 helpful tips to produce favorable results when cleaning stainless steel with vinegar.
Mix Vinegar With Water
While some people prefer to clean stainless steel with vinegar alone, it's generally a good idea to dilute it with water as a result of vinegar's highly acidic nature. To do this, simply combine 1/2 cup of white wine vinegar with 1 cup of warm water in an empty spray bottle, securely seal the bottle and proceed to give it a vigorous shaking. Unless you're dealing with particularly stubborn smudges or stains, there's no need to clean with straight-up vinegar.
As stainless steel is prone to streaking, you will need to wipe it in a circular fashion. After applying your vinegar stainless steel cleaner to the surface, fixture or cookware you wish to clean, give your cleaner about a minute to set in, then use a sponge or a nonabrasive washcloth to clean the stainless steel in broad circular motions. By extension, after your vinegar stainless steel cleaner has been rinsed off, make sure to once again use circular motions when drying it with a nonabrasive cloth. Streaks on stainless steel tend to stand out, so remember to avoid vertical wiping motions when cleaning.
