The right patio furniture cleaner can renew your outdoor furniture. You don’t need to buy a special cleaner. You can make your own patio furniture cleaner.

1. Plastic Furniture

Plastic furniture is the easiest to clean. Make an all purpose homemade cleaner. Mix 1 teaspoon borax and ¼ cup of vinegar with 2 cups of boiling water. Let it cool and put it in a spray bottle. Rinse the plastic outdoor furniture first then spray it on and wipe it down with a sponge. Rinse well.

2. Patio Furniture Cushions

Use this recipe to make a homemade cushion cleaner. Mix together 1 teaspoon of dishwashing liquid, 4 cups of warm water and a tablespoon of borax. Dip a sponge in the solution and wipe the cushions with it. Or for very dirty put the solution in a spray bottle, spray it on the cushions and let them sit for several minutes. Rinse the solution off with a spray nozzle on a water hose. Lean the cushions up against something until they dry.

3. Canvas Patio Furniture

Machine-washable canvas can be removed and washed. Be sure to put it back on the furniture before it dries so that is will not shrink If the canvas is not removable then use a scrub brush dunked in a solution of mild laundry detergent mixed with water. Scrub the canvas with the brush. Rinse the canvas well and allow it to dry. 

Other types of patio furniture made of metal and webbing or a resin composite can be safely cleaned with the above all-purpose cleaner.
