3 Popular Veneer Plaster Options
Veneer plaster provides a strong surface that is resistant to scratches, cracks and dents. The plaster can be colored and textured to create various effects.
1 - Component Systems
The single component system is combined with water and applied in a thin layer over blue board. It is used on masonry and concrete. A variety of materials can be added to the single component system to create different finishes. The double component system uses a base and a finish coat. The base coat is more durable than traditional plaster. The finish coat can smooth or textured.
2 - Texture Options
Quality quartz sand can be added to veneer plaster to add texture to the material. There are also a variety of texture effects that can be created with the trowel including: lace, swirl and skip trowel. Each effect is created by the manner in which the trowel moves the plaster onto the surface.
3 - Color Options
The best manner for tinting plaster is to add color to the mix. You will need a powder colorant to do this. Begin with a small batch of colored mix to see if it works for you. Be sure to write down the proportions of the colored mix and water that you use. Use the same proportions when you make your larger batch.
