A dual flush toilet is a type of toilet that is installed in residential homes and even commercial locations to help conserve water. It is called dual flush because there are 2 buttons present on the toilet. The large button allows you to flush down large waste and the small button allows you to flush down a liquid waste. Some studies show that this type of toilet can save up to 70% more water than a traditional toilet. Here are a few tips to help you repair your dual flush toilet cistern (tank).
Tip 1 - Stopping Over-Flushing Problems by Adjusting Flush Plate Links
To stop automatic over-flushing, push the small button all the way down and pull up on the big button. Remove the exposed screw. Pull off the button assembly completely. Adjust the length of the flush plate links to control the number of flushes that happen.
Tip 2 - Turn off the Water
Whenever you are fixing your cistern, always turn off the water supply underneath the toilet or at the main water intake into the home.
Tip 3 - Flush
When working on your toilet cistern, flush out the excess water by emptying out the cistern. This will keep everything neat and dry while you work.
