4 Energy Saving Tips for Winter 4 Energy Saving Tips for Winter
Energy is expensive and so by learning a few great energy saving tips you will be able to cut down your energy bills. What's more you will also be able to do your bit for the planet.
Tip 1: Better Insulation
Most of the energy in our homes is used for heating or cooling. This is because we all like to be comfortable, and there's nothing wrong with that. The problem is that huge amounts of this energy are escaping through walls, roofs and windows. To prevent this energy loss you need to invest in better insulation. Insulation can be fitted inside the wall cavity, and in the roof space.
Tip 2: New Windows
Older windows were made with a single pane of glass and are not energy efficient. Using newer double glazed window units will ensure that as much heat is kept inside as possible. Curtains also need to be fitted to ensure that heat isn't sucked out of your home at night.
Tip 3: Switch Off the Power
It is easy to fall into the habit of either leaving power switched on all the time, or leaving it on standby. Standby actually consumes huge amounts of power, for example a TV on standby typically consumes 20 percent of the power it would normally use when switched on.
Tip 4: Wear More Clothes
Instead of turning the heating up why not put on an extra sweater instead? You will be just as comfortable, and it won't be costing you as much either.
