Here are 6 Ideas for decorating a kitchen bay window:

1.  Vines

Buy some natural grapevine garland, or honeysuckle vine. Both can be purchased with faux berries if you would like to add a pop of color. This can be bought at a craft store or online. Hammer nails at each corner of your bay window. Drape the vine across all of the windows from nail to nail. Add in Incorporate some grape leaf or ivy garland.

2.  Shelves

Attach shelving at the base of each window. Arrange plants and accessories on the shelves. You can also add other touches such as colored vases in various heights. At the top, place hooks on the inside of the windows and add hanging plants in the center of each window.

3.  Dried vegetables

We’ve all decorated with dried flowers, but have you considered dried vegetables for your kitchen window? You can string dried chili peppers and string beans with a needle and thread, or you can opt to buy them at a craft store. You’ll need several strands. Measure from the top of your window down to the windowsill. Tack or nail strands very close together across the entire window. Use a few strands tied together to use as tiebacks. In the center window, hang a wreath with peppers and beans and a matching bow. A window suction cup made for this purpose pops right on the window and holds securely.

4.  Flowers and lace

Buy lace panels to fit the size of each window. This will allow light in, and also afford you privacy. Get floral garland to match your kitchen to décor at a craft store. Drape the garland around the tops of the windows. Fill in with additional garland such as fern or leaves.

5. Seating

If you do not want a built in window seat, you can still use your space for seating. Place one or two chairs in the nook of the window, depending on how much space you have, and add a small table and lamp. Add some fluffy pillows to the chairs, and you have a nice place to relax while reading recipe books, or to enjoy a morning cup of coffee.

6.  Sofa table


A sofa table can be used in the kitchen too! Place it in the center of the window and place some whimsical kitchen décor on it like a cookie jar lamp, jars of seeds and dried beans, spaghetti, or rice. They will fill in the nook of the window plus the items will be handy when you need them.

Using traditional window treatments such as blinds, shades, and shutters are all good choices, but using one or several of these ideas will add some charm to your kitchen bay window and your nook will really stand out!
