Maintaining your aluminum windows is necessary to prevent the stiff springs, dirty frames and sticking. Cleaning should be done at least once a month. Below are the ways in maintaining your aluminum windows.

Clean and Vacuum

Using stiff brush. Clean the surrounding areas of your aluminum windows. Give special attention to the window sashes where dirt and grit usually accumulate. Follow through using a vacuum cleaner with a nozzle small enough to fit in the window sashes.

Use a Penetrating Lubricant

Spray the spring locks of your aluminum windows with a penetrating lubricant to avoid the springs from becoming stiff.

Use a Car Wax

Applying a car wax in the aluminum frames of your window will not only protect it from dirt and grim but will also make your aluminum window shining clean.

Use a Silicone Lubricant

To protect your aluminum windows from rust and corrosion, use a silicone lubricant. Make sure to apply the silicone lubricant only after you have thoroughly cleaned your aluminum windows.

Scrub with Mild Detergent

Pour 1 cup full of detergent into one liter of water and scrub the aluminum frames to inhibit your aluminum windows from oxidation and pitting.

Use a Glass Cleaner

Spray ample amounts of glass cleaner on your aluminum windows. Wipe it down with used newspapers in a circular motion to achieved a perfectly clean and clear aluminum windows.
