Are cobblestone or gravel walkways easier to maintain? Are cobblestone or gravel walkways easier to maintain?
Depending on how they are installed, gravel walkways are probably easier to maintain than cobblestone walkways. This is assuming that there is a retaining form installed around the perimeter of the gravel walkway to help keep the gravel from scattering everywhere. Periodic sweeping may be necessary to keep a clean walkway, but other than that gravel is fairly maintenance free.
Cobblestone walkways must be cleaned of moss, dirt or debris, especially if the stones are uneven and have crevices between them. With cobblestones placed without mortar, grass or weeds may eventually grow up between the stones which requires more maintenance to keep the walkway looking sharp.
