Are Electric Hydronic Baseboard Heaters Safe for Babies? Are Electric Hydronic Baseboard Heaters Safe for Babies?
Electric hydronic baseboard heaters can be added to any room that needs a little extra heat. They are easy to install and place in the room. They are also really cost effective. This type of baseboard heater uses the combination of electricity and water to heat up a room, and is very much like a radiator. If you have little children and babies, you may have some concerns about the safety of these units.
Hot Radiated Heat
If your baby is found playing around the radiator, and if they stick their fingers into where the heat develops within the unit, the baby could burn their fingers or their toes. There are a few things that you can do to protect your baby from this problem. Some of the ideas are as follows:
- Use a Screen: You can purchase a screen for your baseboard heater and apply it over the location that gets hot and radiates the heat throughout the room. All you need to do is attach the screen with a couple of bolts purchased at your local hardware store.
- Rearrange the Furniture: Rearrange the furniture so that you prevent your baby from crawling around the baseboard heater.
