Are wood countertops easier to maintain than bamboo countertops? Are wood countertops easier to maintain than bamboo countertops?
It takes about the same amount of basic work to maintain bamboo and wood countertops. While you may be able to avoid regular oiling and sealing, because bamboo has its own natural, sealed woody stem, there may be times when bamboo and wood must be treated similarly. For example, if you accidentally slice the surface of the bamboo top, then you will have either to seal the surface with a polymer-based product or use wood oil treatments to keep your top in good shape. You should protect any type of wooden countertop by using a cutting board. If you use your bamboo top with a reasonable level of care, though, you will have an easy enough time maintaining it.
