To enjoy the outdoors and summer breezes and not worry about too much sun or too many insects, you need a screen room. Enclosing a deck or patio with screens and a top that provides shade makes rooms much more usable. There are also stand-alone screen rooms, either rectangular or round. These allow use of a back yard with no bug bites or sunburn. They also protect from rain. Screen room kits are available that are made for do-it-yourself assembly. In a short time the screen room will be up and you will be relaxing inside of it.
Step 1 - Measure
Measure the deck or patio and choose a model that will fit well. If free-standing, make sure there is room for it in the yard.
Step 2 - Assemble
Screen room kits are designed to be assembled in a short time by a couple of people. They have heavy duty aluminum frames and hard or vinyl tops. Complete instructions are provided with each kit. If there are any questions, manufacturers often offer assistance on the phone. Some models are meant to be temporary, and some can be left up year round.
If any permit is required by the city or county, it is up to the homeowner to get one before adding the room.
