Awning Windows vs Double Hung Windows

Awning windows and double hung windows each have a unique set of advantages. It is important to consider each before deciding which windows you will have installed in your home. Awning windows are commonly installed for practicality while double hung windows add traditional features to a house.

Awning Windows

Awning windows commonly open outwards and are fixed in place using a metal latch which has a number of holes in it. Awning windows come in a variety of different styles but basic and single plain window versions are very cheap. They are ideal to place in areas of your home where you will want fresh air quickly. The downside of these windows include the fact that they do not add a genuine accent to your home. They are also much less secure than other styles of window.

Double Hung Windows

Double hung windows have been used for decades. They work by installing two large windows inside a window frame with one pushed more to the front than the other. You can slide up or down a window and secure it in place using a latch. The big pro of this window is that it adds real class to your house. The main disadvantage of this window is that it can cost a great deal to have them installed professionally.
