Design and Build an Outdoor Fireplace on the Cheap
It is not difficult for a do-it-yourselfer to build an outdoor fireplace. If you are on a limited budget, there is an easy way to build an outdoor fireplace with a shovel, some pavers and gravel. Of course an even cheaper way to go is to just use some larger rocks that you might have on your own property, or get permission to recycle some river rock from a farmer you might know.
Think about where you will locate your fireplace to determine how large a fire pit you can build. Make sure that you build it in a location that is far enough away from your house and anything else flammable.
Simply dig a fire pit and surround it with large rocks to mark the boundary. It is important that your pit have gravel in the bottom for proper rainwater drainage. Some even suggest a drain pipe buried and running out and down away from the fire pit.
Which ever way you decide to go, minimal expense or the cheapest way imaginable, your sweat equity will be worth it the first time you build a fire in the cool of the evening. Sitting around a fire with friends and family is hard to beat.
