Your garden tool storage could be very useful in moments of urgency, but it could be a problem if you don’t have an outdoor tool box to organize all of your tools. It’s common to spend money on tools that you already have because you don’t have a place to put them and you think you’ve lost them. Don’t worry! With these easy steps, you’ll see that having your tools ordered in only one space is a piece of cake. You’ll save money building a decorative tool box for your garden and it’s also a really useful gift for your friends.
Tools And Materials Needed:
- Circular saw
- Pieces of wood
- Bar clamps
- A strong tree branch
- Wood dowel
- Wood knife
Step 1 - Select the Size
Measure the wood and mark it according to the kinds of tools you’re going to keep there. In total, you need 5 pieces of wood. Be careful because you’ll be using a circular saw to cut them. The pieces of wood will be distributed as follows: one for the base, two as lateral pieces, and the other two for the front and back. The wood base is a rectangle, the two lateral pieces are in the shape of large triangles, and the front pieces are large rectangles like the base.
Step 2 - The Delicate Touch
Now that the parts are cut, carefully sand each one. This will give it a really delicate touch and will protect you from the impurities that the wood may have.
Step 3 - Build The Box
Put together the base and the laterals. Place one nail in one bottom corner of the lateral and be sure you’re grabbing the base. Use the hammer to secure it and do the same for the other corner. Repeat this procedure for the other lateral.
Step 4 - The Largest Pieces of Wood
Your tool box is almost ready. Now, you only have to put together the two largest rectangles. Place these pieces of wood a little higher than the base, leaving a space between the base and these rectangles. Remember that this is not only a simple box, but a decorative outdoor tool box for your garden tool storage. Use the bar clamps with the nails and the hammer to join the lateral wood piece to one rectangular piece, and then do the same on the other side and to the other rectangular piece.
Step 5 - The Decorative Tree Branch
Now you’ll have to make two holes in the largest pieces. Don’t worry. This isn’t so difficult. Draw a regular circle a little higher than the middle and then cut it out with a wood knife. Insert the tree branch in the two holes and you’ll see it forms a handle. Now paste the wood dowel on both ends of the branch and secure it with a nail.
You’ve finished! If you want to, you could use a brush and some paint to give your tool box some color. You’ll never lose a tool with this perfect do-it-yourself box.
