Building Traditional Kitchen Cabinets: What Is a Flush Overlay? Building Traditional Kitchen Cabinets: What Is a Flush Overlay?

Flush overlay is a term used to describe one of the more expensive features in building traditional kitchen cabinets. The term refers both to a cabinet that has doors that go to the edge of the frame, and to drawers whose drawer fronts go to the edge of their frame. This is the most expensive kind of cabinet, since it involves more material of course, but also because the cabinet doors and frames must be fitted exactly, since they almost touch when closed. None of the cabinet framing of a flush overlay is visible when cabinet doors and drawers are closed.
