Available in various combinations, from 2-piece skillet sets to the comprehensive 16-piece package, every Calphalon Contemporary cookware set features components that are durably constructed out hard-anodized aluminum or stainless steel. The benefits of purchasing cookware in full sets include matching styles and saving money. If each of the components were to be purchased separately, the total price would be much higher. In sets, Calphalon cookware ranges from about $50 to $500, depending on the number of pieces and material.
All Calphalon cookware features a non-stick interior surface and a brilliant exterior. Hard-anodized aluminum cookware is cast and then subjected to an electrochemical process which hardens and protects it. Stainless steel cookware features a satiny interior finish, a mirror-like exterior polish and an inner layer of aluminum, extending up the sides, to improve heat conductivity and distribution. Lids are made of tempered glass and feature riveted stainless steel handles and stylish rims. Anodized aluminum cookware should be used with wooden, nylon or coated utensils, while all types may be used with stainless steel.
Depending on the set, different components are included. The 2-piece Contemporary set features dual frypans, a 10- and a 12-inch model. The full-scale, 16-piece set includes dual skillets, 3 saucepans, 1 saute pan and stockpot. All pans and pots have lids. Also included are a pasta insert, square griddle and double broiler.
