Can a steam radiator be used in a large home with a one pipe system? Can a steam radiator be used in a large home with a one pipe system?
Steam radiator systems frequently use only a single pipe. This type of radiator system uses that pipe to feed steam into the radiator and remove condensed water from the radiator using the same pipe. This kind of single pipe system is usually sufficient for even large houses. Sometimes a second pipe is present, and provides the exit route for the condensed water. A two-pipe system may be seen in any type of building, large or small. In very large commercial buildings, or high rise apartment buildings, there may be a two-pipe system in place. In this type of installation the second pipe may be used in air conditioning the building.
