Can brake rotors fail? Can brake rotors fail?
Brake rotors are a critical part of your vehicle's brake system. The rotors work in conjunction with the pads and the rest of the brake system to bring your car to a safe stop. There are two ways in which a brake rotor can fail and cause problems with your vehicle's ability to stop. Warped rotors are often the result of heat over the course of regular use, or when an imperfection in the rotor causes it to wear unevenly. A warped rotor can cause the brakes to pulsate when they are used and create an imbalance in the brake fluid pressure. Cracked rotors are unable to dissipate heat properly when being used, and that can cause the brakes to completely fail.
