Can brake rotors wear unevenly?
There are a few things that can make brake rotors wear unevenly. In most cases, uneven wear of a brake rotor is the result of a defect in the rotor. If the rotor has cracks in it, then the heat cannot be evenly distributed during use. When this happens, the parts of the rotor that absorb more heat than the other parts will begin to wear unevenly. A flaw in the brake system that applies uneven pressure to the rotor when the brake is applied will cause the rotor to wear unevenly. One more thing to watch for is to make sure your tires are balanced. Unbalanced tires cause uneven wear on defective and well-made rotors.
