Cleaning a Foggy Sliding Glass Door
Many homeowners have to deal with a foggy sliding glass door in their home. However, not many people know how to effectively remove the fog from in between the panes. Here are the basics of what you can do to fix a foggy sliding glass door.
Step 1--Drill a Hole
The main problem with a foggy sliding glass door is that the gasket is no longer sealed. It allows moisture into the area between the panes. Therefore, you will need to start out by drilling a hole in the gasket for the moisture to escape. This is the simplest fix to the problem, but it will only be temporary. On a dry day, the moisture will escape. However, moisture will eventually find its way back in.
Step 2--Use a Desiccant Material
After you have drilled a hole, you can utilize a desiccant material. By spraying this type of material into the hole, it will absorb the moisture and dry the area between the panels. This will also be a temporary solution.
Step 3--Install a Valve
Another solution is to install a valve into a hole in the gasket. This will allow the moisture to make its way out and help block moisture from getting back in.
