You should regularly clean your neoprene seat cover to ensure that it does its job and lasts a long time. Neoprene is a commonly used material for many interiors and you will need to periodically clean them when they get dirty. Here are the basics of how to clean a neoprene seat cover successfully.
Step 1 - Remove Debris and Dirt
You need to start out by removing any loose debris order to that is on top of the seat cover. Otherwise, you will not be able to successfully clean the rest of the surface. Start out by taking a vacuum cleaner with a longer attachment and using it to remove any dirt or dust that is on the seat cover.
Step 2 - Mix Solution
You can make a great neoprene cleaning solution out of things that you have around the house. Take a bucket and fill it with approximately 2 gallons of warm water. Once you have the bucket full of warm water, you are going to need to mix some laundry detergent in with the water. You should use approximately 1 to 2 tablespoons of detergent when you are coming up with this mixture. Take something long like a paint mixer and mix up the solution in your bucket. You should be left with a very soapy looking liquid solution. If you do not want to make your own solution, they also sell neoprene shampoo that you can use for this job as well.
Step 3 - Use the Solution
After you have mixed up your cleaning solution, you should start cleaning your neoprene seats with it. Use a sponge and dip it down into the mixture that you have created. Then take your sponge and use it to wipe down the seats. Try not to leave too much liquid on the seats at one time.
Step 4 - Rinse
After you have thoroughly cleaned the neoprene seat covers with your solution, you will need to rinse it off of the seats. Get your sponge again and this time rinse it with clean water. Take the sponge that has the clean water in it and use it to wipe down your seats again. You might have to do this a few times so that you can get all of the soapy water solution off of the seats. Make sure that there is no residue left on the neoprene seat covers.
Step 5 - Dry
After you have completely rinse off your seat covers, you will need to dry the seats. Take a rag that is dry and use it to wipe down your seat covers. This should remove most of the moisture that is on your seats. At that point, you can also use a blow dryer to completely dry your neoprene seat covers if they are still a little damp.
Step 6 - Stains
If you have stains in your neoprene seat cover, you might want to consider using upholstery cleaner to remove them. You can spray this type of cleaner on and let it dry before you wipe it off.
