Slate flooring is an elegant type of flooring that adds natural and rustic appeal to your floor. However, if the grout on your slate floor discolors, making your entire floor look dirty and unhygienic, you need to clean the grout. Here are the materials and easy steps to follow to clean your grout.
- Detergent solution
- Used toothbrush
- Baking soda
- Acid wash
Step 1 – Clean the Floor
Mop the floor with a detergent solution, to remove the dirt that has adhered to the grout. Make sure that the mop is just damp, and not completely wet, to avoid streaking on the slate. Let the floor dry.
Step 2 – Clean the Grout
Take time to wipe the grout with the towel, and apply a detergent and baking soda solution as you wipe the grout. To facilitate the job, dampen a used toothbrush, and scrub the grout with the solution.
Step 3 – Dry the Grout
Once the grout has been scrubbed, use a dry towel to remove excess moisture from the grout. Excess moisture causes the grout to crack and chip off.
Step 4 – Acid Wash Application
Apply acid wash to the tile as well as grout, to remove any stains.
