Cleaning Wood Blinds Made Easy Cleaning Wood Blinds Made Easy

What You'll Need
Vacuum cleaner
Fabric softener
Small paintbrush
Dryer sheets
Nonabrasive washcloth

If your wood blinds have incurred a hefty amount of dirt and debris, you may be wondering how to clean them. If so, read on to learn the basics of cleaning wood blinds.

Step 1 - Vacuum Your Slats

Begin the cleaning process by using one of your vacuum cleaner's brush attachments to expel any excess dust from the slats of your blinds. When performing this step, take care to vacuum both sides of each slat. If your vacuum cleaner doesn't have any brush attachments, this step can also be performed with a nonabrasive washcloth.

Step 2 - Apply Your Fabric Softener

Having thoroughly vacuumed your slats, you are ready to apply your fabric softener. Begin this step by dipping the end of a small paintbrush into a container of fabric softener. Make sure the tip of the paintbrush contains only a minuscule amount of fabric softener, then proceed to apply the softener to your wood blinds in smooth, even strokes. Alternatively, you can wipe your wood blinds down with a dryer sheet. This step will help protect your blinds against the formation of dust and eliminate the need for frequent cleanings.

Once your blinds have been successfully cleaned, use your vacuum cleaner to suck up any dust that found its way onto your floor during the cleaning process.
