Create a Coat Rack Using Hockey Sticks
Having a coat rack at home is one of the most useful items you can have. Aside from the fact that it keeps all you coats, hats and jackets in order, your visitors will also have the convenience of hanging their own coats on it. There are a lot of materials available for you to choose from to do this project on you own. If you have some spare hockey sticks at home and you do not know what to use them for, instead of disposing them, why not make use of your creativity and create a coat rack out of it? With these simple procedures you will be able to make a unique rack in no time.
Step 1: Cutting Hockey Sticks
On a flat surface, place the three hockey sticks in an upward position. Here, you will notice the differences in heights. With the use of a pencil and a ruler, draw a horizontal line on the sticks and cut along these lines with your saw. The end result will be that your sticks will have equal heights, which will make your coat rack more presentable and cleaner.
Step 2: Building the Frame
With the use of screws (2 inches), assemble your coat rack’s frame by attaching the hockey sticks into the three hockey pucks. By doing this, you are making these hockey pucks the coat rack center. Make sure that the distance between these pucks are even because they will serve as the support of your rack. With the use of your pencil, mark the bottom support 12 inches above the tip of the hockey stick on top of its shaft. The top support should be 24 inches away from the tops of the sticks, and the support in the middle should be on the center of both supports from top to bottom. After you are done marking the materials of your rack, the next thing you will do is drill through it, so make sure you mark these sticks properly.
Step 3: Attaching the Hockey Sticks
Using your drill (cordless recommended), and some screws (2 inches recommended), attach each hockey sticks to the frame you have just made. You should be able to make sure that all the marks you have made earlier are strictly followed. This will ensure the stability of your rack.
Step 4: Finalizing the Rack with Coat Hooks
On top of each of your hockey sticks, place all the hooks with a distance of approximately ½ foot from above the sticks to make sure that your rack does not get heavy. After you have done all this, you will see what a beautiful rack you have made, with the different carvings and designs of each hockey stick.
