Create A Soundproof Room On The Cheap
There are many reasons you may consider adding a soundproof room to your home. If you have a makeshift studio, or just want some peace and quiet a soundproof room makes sense. It doesn’t have to cost you an arm and a leg to create. Here are some simple ways to soundproof a room yourself.
Carpeting and Drapes
One of the easiest ways to soundproof a room is to lay down carpeting and hang drapes up against the walls. This will help to absorb a lot of the noise and decrease the noise that can escape. You don’t need to carpet the whole room either, you can use remnants in the center of the room.
Another cheap way to soundproof a room is to apply a spray on acoustic texture to the walls and ceiling. The texture also acts as a damper to prevent sound from entering or escaping the room.
You can tack egg cartons or cardboard to the wall, then attach a heavy material over this directly on the walls. This is very cheap, although it may take you a while to come up with all the egg cartons needed!
